Brittany Nault named principal for Clarke Elementary

Killeen ISD announces Brittany Nault as the new principal of Clarke Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year.

A Killeen ISD alum, Nault steps into the role with more than 15 years of experience in education, during which she’s focused her efforts around building structured, safe and inclusive school cultures that benefit both students and staff growth.

“The hiring committee selected Ms. Nault because of her strong instructional background and her proven ability to build a positive, structured campus environment,” said Dr. Jo-Lynette Crayton, assistant superintendent for elementary education. “Her experience and leadership style align well with the needs of Clarke Elementary and will support continued success for students and staff.”

Nault currently is in her third year as assistant principal at Cedar Valley Elementary. Among other priorities centered on student and staff success during her tenure as assistant principal, Nault served as the campus’ behavior coordinator, led the school’s Capturing Kids’ Hearts initiative, and provided mentorship for fellow coworkers.

Prior to that, she was a curriculum instructional specialist (2021-2023), a first grade and dyslexia teacher (2012-2021) and paraprofessional (2011-2012). She also served as the district’s Summer Learning director in 2024 and 2025.

Nault has a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University-Central Texas and earned a master’s degree from Lamar University.

She replaces Laura Dart, who’s retiring after 30 years in education and 15 years as the principal at Clarke Elementary.
